With large corporations representedin thehalls of government by teams of lobbyists, independent media--individual producers, writers, artists, musicians, andjournalists-- are forced to adapt to a media landscape shaped forprofit. TheInternet's fundamental neutrality with respect to thecontent ofpackets has already been sacrificed by the AmericanF.C.C. underpressure from corporations that own its radio spectrumfor wirelessdata transmissions. In the form of a game, Tiltaddresses issuesthat led Ben Bagdikian to publish The MediaMonopoly in 1983, a textthat has been revised repeatedly toreflect the increasinglyconcentrated ownership of the media. Thebook was influential in theeventual development of the MediaReform Movement, as have beenintellectuals such as Bill Moyers,Robert McChesney, and JohnNichols.
